ABOUT JYOTI MANDIR

The Jyoti Mandir ("Temple of Light") is a small temple at a private residence in Encinitas, California. It is our belief that the high and true purpose of music is to uplift the consciousness, leading to actual communion with God. Toward that end, we sponsor an ongoing series of devotional music concerts, specializing in music that is oriented toward the path of Hindu devotional mysticism.

We also present an informal monthly kirtan on the first Monday of each month, from 7:30 pm till 9:30 pm, featuring a variety of kirtan leaders. The evening includes a devotional reading, and concludes with arati.

Concert Donations: With a few exceptions, most concerts at Jyoti Mandir are offered on an anonymous donation basis, so that no one will feel excluded. We like to say that we are one place where you can actually hear the artists first, before deciding how much you would like to give! A donation basket will remain near the door throughout the event. Although a "suggested donation" is given for guest concerts, it is meant as a guideline only. Larger contributions, whenever possible, in order to support our artists, are greatly appreciated.
